The Roof of the World

Have you ever imagined that this Planet Earth has many more wonders that are beyond your imagination? So, The Roof of the World is that kind of Wonder. Imagine how high that place is. In-School we wanted to know about it. Yes, I am talking about the Pamir Knot and Mountains. A place in the Middle of Asia, probably known as high Asia, where most of the World's highest mountains stand for ages.

If you look at the map carefully you see that there are two sources, where most of the Asian Mountains Start. I am talking about Pamir Knot and Armenian Knot. The former is I talked before and this is the topic of today, and the latter I can discuss later on.

So, first of all, came to the topic that is Pamir Knot. Look at the picture and feel the majestic beauty. It is the source of our own Himalayas. Apart from the Himalayas, this place is the source of other snow-capped mountain ranges, like, Hindu Kush, Sulaiman, Tian Shan,

Kunlun, Karakoram,

Altinda

ğ.

If you open Google Earth that kind of Image came from the Pamir Mountains. See all the snow-capped mountains. So, explorer John Wood was the first person to reach the Pamir Knot, and he said later on that he called that place "Bam-i-Dunya", which means 'The Roof of the World'.

There is also a special thing here. That is Fedchchenko Glacier, the longest glacier outside the Polar Region. This glacier covers almost 700 square kilometers.
