Russia's Crimea Invasion

So, from today I start a new category of this Blog called "History". Yes, I completely agree with you that when I started this blog earlier this year I wrote that this is for Geography and related topics. But, from time to time, you noticed that I cover various topics like Travel, Gaming, Universe. So, this is the new initiative. One of you requested me to write about the ongoing situation that is happening in Ukraine. So, I came up with this topic that is Russia's Crimea Invasion.

On the map, you can see the red circled area is Crimea. In March 2014 Russia invaded Crimea, which was the then part of Ukraine, but now it is part of Russia. The region is located on the bank of the Black Sea.

The background of that part is that Ukraine in 1918 gains its independence from the Russian empire, 3 years later in 1921, Russia invades Ukraine under the leadership of Lenin. So, the people of Ukraine and Russia are all same background 'SLAVIC'. So, there are very similarities among them. But, Russia always protests against Ukraine. Remember the USSR ( Union of Soviet Socialist Republic), such a huge nation. In 1991, when USSR lost the Cold War against the USA and breaks down it divides into 15 different countries which are part of the USSR before. One such country is Of Coarse Ukraine. So, recently Vladimir Putin ( President of Russia) says that the breakdown of Russia is their biggest humanitarian loss in history. So, they always want the older USSR back. In such a case, the people of Ukraine, mostly the Eastern Ukrainian part want to join the Russ Nation which is, by the way, shares its border with Russia, but on the other hand, in western Ukraine, the people around there want to join the Europian Union. So, the president then is Victor Yanukovych. Russia pressures Ukraine not to join the EU, so Victor agreed with Russ, but the people of Ukraine don't tolerate that. So, they start a revolution in Ukraine. This is called the 'Revolution of Dignity'. And, in that case, Victor Yanukovych was impeached from Parliament. The new president is Petro Poroshenko, who finally signed the treaty with the EU on 27th June 2014.

So, the whole process of Putin goes in vain. In March 2014 Russia invades Crimea. It is an autonomous region of Ukraine, as an independent nation. But, after the invasion Russia take control of it till now.
