You have all probably heard about Easter Island and also its megalithic structure called 'MOAI'. Well, let's, deep dive, into today's topic Easter Island, and its mysteries.

           If you look carefully Easter Island ( in Spanish it is called Isla de Pascua) is situated in the South-Eastern Pacific Ocean,. This island is owned by Chile, and it is one of the World's most remote lonely islands. The nearest island from this is about 2075 km away called Pitcairn Island. And the most interesting thing about it is its statues, that's what makes the island very unique.


        Now, if you observe these MOAI's closely you will see that it has no hands, so basically a handless human or humans because the total number of MOAI counted on this island is approximately more than 900. One statue weighed 10 tons and had a height of over 5 meters. The tallest MOAI's height is 10 meters, just imagine! And its name is 'PARO'. Early citizens of this island called "Rapa Nui" people made all these structures. But, is it not mysterious? Imagine the weight of each MOAI and the material to build these structures are located far beyond the island and the MOAI's are mainly located outside of the island, not everyone because the island is full of MOAI.         The name Easter Island was named after Dutch Explorer Jacob Roggeveen, who went for searching Davis Island but finally reach here on 5th April 1722 ( just tomorrow was the day 300 years ago 😅). He arrived here on Easter Sunday so that is the etymology of that name.

        A study said that this island is full of Rapa Nui people, but now it is almost empty. What happened then? Because of various reasons, first of all, colonial impact, various European Nations arrived here and some European Diseases also arrived with them. Some environmental changes, rapid deforestation, lack of Palm Oil, and emigration to other islands like Tahiti make the island empty. 

        Many found Alien Connections to this, but not proven, but the mystery remains unsolved like many other mysteries. Hope someday these all will be solved. This shows how diverse and mysterious our own Planet is❤. Till then signing off...
